Talking without speaking can be deafening! You should never assume that silence equals consent and consensus this can be misleading. Silence can mean many things, It can mean yes, no, agreement or disagreement. It can imply contentment or dissatisfaction, safety or fear. It can be accompanied by the smile of approval or the scorn of judgment. Silence is a text easy to misread,misinterpretation of silence can cause problems, to be safe drop the assumptions and wait forclarification. Silence conveys a message, through facial expression or body language.
Silence can make people like you or make them angry, the brain is great at filling in gaps. The sound of silence is critical to interpersonal and skills development in a learning environment. Silence is always better without all the noise. The sound of silence usually irritates some peopleyet it makes most people calmer. Silence can calm which can lead to reflection, it’s about gaining control of your thoughts and emotions, some will say the sound of silence is anti-social behaviorbut I disagree. To quote Chaim Potok “I’ve begun to realize that you can listen to silence and learn from it. It has a quality and a dimension all its own.”
