Championship Thinking 

There are athletes that perform beautifully in practice and then in competition, it’s like a totally different person shows up.This is the most frustrating situation as a coach you can face. What you can do is – 

…Give them a pep talk on how to “believe in themselves?” And this most times does not have the desired effect. Or you can just Hope and pray that it goes away, the more athletes are exposed to competition and pressure. However this approach of hit and miss in a high risk solutions.

My recommendation is the use of – Progressive relaxation without any tensing. This should be practiced at least once a day. Many athletes are able to get very good at achieving a deep state of relaxation through imagery based techniques to facilitate their performance.

As time goes on and the athletes continue to practice, they will find that they are relaxing more quickly.
